In physics, vibrations are a ubiquitous phenomenon. Atoms within molecules are constantly in motion, exhibiting vibrational states. The energy levels of these vibrations are quantized, meaning they can only exist at specific discrete energy values. When a system absorbs or emits energy, it can transition between these vibrational states.

In acoustics, vibrations are the source of sound. When an object vibrates, it disturbs the surrounding medium, typically air, creating pressure waves that propagate as sound.
