Vulkanointilämpötila, often translated as vulcanization temperature, refers to the specific temperature range at which vulcanization, a chemical process for rubber, occurs. This process involves heating rubber with sulfur or other curatives under controlled conditions. The primary goal of vulcanization is to improve the rubber's strength, elasticity, durability, and resistance to temperature changes and abrasion.

The precise vulcanization temperature is critical and depends on several factors. These include the type of rubber being vulcanized, such as natural rubber or synthetic rubbers like styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) or nitrile rubber (NBR). The type and amount of vulcanizing agent used also play a significant role. Accelerators, which are chemicals added to speed up the vulcanization process, can also influence the optimal temperature. Additionally, the presence of activators and retarders can further modify the required temperature.

Typical vulcanization temperatures for rubber range from about 120 degrees Celsius to 200 degrees Celsius. For natural rubber, a common temperature is around 140-150 degrees Celsius. Synthetic rubbers may require slightly different temperatures. Insufficient temperature will result in incomplete vulcanization, leading to poor physical properties. Conversely, excessive temperature can cause degradation of the rubber, leading to brittleness and reduced performance. Therefore, maintaining the correct vulcanization temperature is essential for achieving the desired properties in rubber products.
