Vridi
Vridi is a coastal area in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, named for the Vridi Canal, a man-made waterway that links the Ébrié Lagoon to the Atlantic Ocean. Located on the eastern edge of Abidjan, the canal provides a deeper and more sheltered approach for commercial shipping and forms part of the city’s port complex.
Construction of the Vridi Canal in the mid-20th century was a major modification of the region’s hydrology.
Today, Vridi remains a strategic zone for maritime and industrial operations near Abidjan. The canal’s entrance
