Vormindusmärkide

Vormindusmärkide is an Estonian term that translates to "forming marks" or "molding marks." It refers to the imperfections or surface characteristics that are imparted onto a material during the manufacturing process, particularly during molding or casting operations. These marks are typically a result of the interaction between the molten material and the mold cavity.

Common types of vormindusmärkide include flow lines, which are visible lines on the surface indicating the path of the material as it filled the mold. Weld lines, also known as knit lines, can occur when two or more streams of molten material meet and fuse together, often creating a weaker point in the material. Sink marks are depressions or voids that appear on the surface of a molded part, usually caused by uneven cooling and shrinkage of the material. Flash, a thin excess of material that extends beyond the intended parting line of the mold, is another form of vormindusmärkide.

The presence and severity of vormindusmärkide can depend on various factors, including the type of material being molded, the design of the mold, the molding process parameters (such as temperature, pressure, and injection speed), and the cooling rate. While some vormindusmärkide are unavoidable and may not significantly affect the functionality of a part, others can be detrimental to its aesthetic appearance or mechanical properties.

Manufacturers often strive to minimize or eliminate undesirable vormindusmärkide through careful mold design, process optimization, and material selection. In some cases, post-molding operations like deburring or polishing may be employed to remove or reduce the visibility of these marks. The acceptable level of vormindusmärkide is usually defined in product specifications or quality control standards.
