Vorfußgewölbes
Vorfußgewölbes refers to the transverse arch of the foot, located in the front part of the sole, spanning from the base of the fifth metatarsal bone to the base of the first metatarsal bone. This arch is formed by the metatarsal bones and their associated ligaments and muscles. Unlike the longitudinal arch, which runs from the heel to the toes, the transverse arch is less pronounced and contributes to the overall structure and function of the foot.
The primary roles of the Vorfußgewölbes include distributing body weight evenly across the forefoot during weight-bearing
A flattened or collapsed Vorfußgewölbes is often referred to as a dropped forefoot or transverse arch collapse.
