Vorderansicht

Vorderansicht is a German term used in technical drawing, architecture, and related fields to denote the view of an object as seen from the front. It represents the primary plane of projection in a set of orthographic views and is typically presented together with Seitenansicht (side view) and Draufsicht (top view). In the Vorderansicht, the object is depicted with its main vertical plane facing the viewer, showing visible edges and surfaces while hidden features may be indicated with dashed lines. Dimensions and annotations are often placed on this front view.

In architecture, the Vorderansicht corresponds to the front elevation of a building, illustrating the façade, window and door arrangement, roofline, and exterior materials. It serves planning, aesthetic assessment, and construction documentation, providing a standardized representation of the building’s outward appearance.

In product design and engineering, the Vorderansicht documents the front face of components or assemblies to ensure correct alignment, proportions, and symmetry across views.
