Vollhybride

Vollhybride, also known as full hybrids, represent a type of hybrid electric vehicle that can be propelled solely by its electric motor, solely by its internal combustion engine, or by a combination of both. This allows for greater fuel efficiency compared to conventional vehicles. In a full hybrid system, the electric motor is typically powerful enough to drive the vehicle at low speeds or for short distances without engaging the gasoline engine. The internal combustion engine can also operate independently to power the vehicle or to charge the battery. When both power sources are used simultaneously, it can provide enhanced acceleration or overcome steep inclines.

The transition between electric-only, engine-only, and combined power modes is usually automated by the vehicle's control system. This system optimizes the use of each power source to maximize fuel economy and minimize emissions. Regenerative braking is a common feature in full hybrids, where the electric motor acts as a generator during deceleration, capturing kinetic energy and converting it into electrical energy to recharge the battery. This contrasts with mild hybrids, which cannot drive on electric power alone and use the electric motor primarily to assist the gasoline engine. Full hybrids offer a significant step towards reducing fuel consumption and environmental impact in automotive technology.
