Virungavuoriston
Virungavuoristo is a mountain range that straddles the border between Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is part of the much larger Albertine Rift, which is the western branch of the East African Rift. The Virungas are a chain of volcanoes, with eight major peaks, six of which are considered active. The highest peak is Mount Karisimbi, reaching an elevation of 4,507 meters (14,787 feet).
