Virtsasta

Virtsasta is a fictional municipality in the northern archipelago region of Veridia. The community is described as a coastal town with a rural hinterland and a temperate maritime climate.

Geographically, the municipality covers about 74 square kilometers, with forests forming about two-thirds of the area and the remainder consisting of fields, wetlands, and waterway corridors. The coastline comprises several inlets, a central harbor and a small island cluster.

Administratively, Virtsasta originated as a cluster of farming settlements in the 18th century and was incorporated as a municipality in 1887. It is governed by a municipal council of 15 members elected for four-year terms. It belongs to Veridia's northwest province.

The local economy combines forestry, small-scale fishing, and tourism, with several guesthouses and craft workshops. The population is around 3,900 residents, primarily Finnish-speaking, with increasing bilingual services in Swedish.

Cultural landmarks include Virtsasta Lighthouse, the Old Mill building, and the Coastal Nature Reserve. The annual Summer Harbor Festival celebrates maritime heritage.

Access is via regional highways and a ferry link to the mainland; the closest airport is in a neighboring town. Public services include a primary and secondary school, a clinic, and a municipal library.
