Vindelfjällen

Vindelfjällen is a large nature reserve located in the southern part of Swedish Lapland, primarily within the Vindeln municipality. It is one of Europe's largest protected mountain areas, renowned for its vast wilderness, diverse landscapes, and rich biodiversity. The reserve encompasses a significant portion of the Vindelälven river, which is one of Sweden's few remaining large, natural rivers.

The terrain of Vindelfjällen is characterized by a mosaic of habitats. This includes expansive ancient forests, particularly pine and spruce, numerous mires and fens, clear mountain lakes, and the dramatic mountain landscapes in the western parts.
