Vilistav

Vilistav is a fictional town in the eastern region of Valoria, a setting used in contemporary fantasy literature and game materials. It lies along the Vilis River, near the foothills of the Garin Range.

Geography and climate

The town sits in a valley with a temperate climate, experiencing warm summers and cool winters. Agricultural lands surround the built environment, and the river provides water for irrigation and historic mills. The surrounding hills shape local microclimates and provide scenic overlooks.

History

Vilistav was founded in 1274 as a defensive fortress on a crossroads between major trade routes. It developed into a market town in the late medieval period, with growth spurred by river transport until the 19th century. The fortress remains a central landmark and a focal point for local identity.

Economy and infrastructure

Today Vilistav maintains a mixed economy based on timber, pottery, and light manufacturing, complemented by small-scale tourism centered on the fortress and river. The population is about 8,000. It is connected by regional rail and a national road; the nearest airport is in the regional capital, about 60 kilometers away.

Culture and demographics

Residents are predominantly Valorian-speaking with a local dialect. Cultural life centers on the annual Vilistav Days festival, craft markets, and the fortress museum. Education includes two primary schools and one secondary school. The town has a municipal council and maintains two sister cities.
