Vesehúgyutak

Vesehúgyutak, also known as ureters, are a pair of muscular tubes in the human body that connect the kidneys to the bladder. Each ureter is approximately 25 to 30 centimeters long and is responsible for transporting urine from the kidneys to the bladder. The ureters begin at the renal pelvis, the funnel-shaped structure at the base of each kidney, and extend downwards to the bladder, where they empty urine into the bladder's trigone, a triangular area at the base of the bladder.

The ureters play a crucial role in the urinary system by ensuring the continuous flow of urine from the kidneys to the bladder. They are lined with smooth muscle and contain peristaltic contractions that help propel urine along their length. The ureters also have a unique structure that allows them to expand and contract, accommodating the varying volumes of urine produced by the kidneys.

In addition to their primary function, the ureters also serve as a conduit for the transport of certain substances, such as hormones and waste products, between the kidneys and the bladder. This bidirectional flow is facilitated by the ureters' ability to transport substances in both directions, depending on the needs of the body.

The ureters are an essential component of the urinary system, and any abnormalities or blockages in the ureters can lead to urinary tract infections, kidney stones, or other urinary disorders. Medical interventions, such as ureteroscopy or ureteral stents, may be employed to address issues related to the ureters.
