Vertailulämpömittarit, known in English as comparative thermometers or differential thermometers, are instruments used to measure the difference in temperature between two points. Unlike standard thermometers that indicate absolute temperature, these devices focus on the temperature gradient. They are particularly useful in scientific research, industrial processes, and meteorological applications where understanding temperature variations is crucial.

The basic principle behind a comparative thermometer often involves two identical temperature-sensing elements. These elements can be thermistors, thermocouples, or resistance thermometers.
