Vertaanas

Vertaanas is a fictional planet located in the Kepler-186 star system, a red dwarf star approximately 580 light-years from Earth. This celestial body is notable for being the first potentially habitable exoplanet discovered orbiting within the habitable zone of its star. The habitable zone is the region around a star where conditions might be right for liquid water to exist on the surface of a planet.

The planet itself is estimated to be about 10% larger than Earth in radius. Its mass is currently unknown, but due to its size, it is likely a rocky planet. Vertaanas orbits Kepler-186 at a distance comparable to Earth's orbit around the Sun, completing one revolution every 130 days. However, because Kepler-186 is a red dwarf star, it is much cooler and dimmer than our Sun. This means that Vertaanas receives less stellar energy than Earth does, and its surface temperature would depend heavily on its atmospheric composition and thickness, which are not yet determined.

The discovery of Vertaanas was made using the Kepler Space Telescope, which detects exoplanets by observing the slight dimming of a star's light as a planet passes in front of it. While the presence of liquid water or an atmosphere remains speculative, Vertaanas represents a significant find in the ongoing search for Earth-like planets beyond our solar system.
