Vernta

Vernta is a fictional coastal city-state located in the southern delta region of the continent of Norelia. It sits along the Verdan River Delta and faces the Aurel Sea, functioning as a major trading and cultural hub in its imagined world. The name Vernta is said to derive from the Verdan language, meaning harbor of the winds. The city features a compact urban core surrounded by canals, markets, and historic fortifications that reflect its long role as a maritime center.

Historically, Vernta was established in the 9th century by mariners and merchants and grew as a key trading post along regional sea routes. It joined the Verdan League in the 12th century and later developed a constitutional republic in the 18th century. Today, the metropolitan area is home to an estimated population of about 420,000. The official language is Verntan, with minority languages including Tallen and Sira.

The economy centers on maritime trade, shipbuilding, seafood processing, finance, and tourism. Vernta preserves a rich cultural scene, with landmarks such as the Silver Gate and Lantern Market and hosts an annual Lantern Festival that blends maritime and mercantile traditions.
