Verndin is a fictional city-state in the northern archipelago of the fantasy realm of Lyrland. It functions as a major harbor and commercial center within the narrative world, serving as a political and cultural hub for surrounding provinces. The name is traditionally traced to an early maritime dialect, with scholars suggesting roots meaning "green harbor" or "watchful harbor."

Historically, Verndin grew from a cluster of trading posts established in the early medieval period and achieved prominence after forging a chartered status that permitted autonomous governance and a trade monopoly in key goods.
