A ventriloquist is a performer who creates the impression that a puppet or other character speaks with its own voice while the performer’s lips appear to be still or only minimally moving. The act relies on vocal control, timing, and dialogue that the audience assigns to the puppet, making the puppet seem to have independent thoughts and personality.
