Veistotaiteen

Veistotaiteen is the Finnish term for sculpture art, referring to three-dimensional visual art created by shaping materials such as stone, metal, wood, clay, or modern composites. It includes freestanding sculpture, reliefs, and installation works, and it can be figurative, abstract, or a combination of both. Techniques cover carving, modelling, casting, welding, and assemblage, while surfaces may be polished, patinated, or textured.

The 19th and early 20th centuries saw national romanticism and realism influence sculptural production, leading to public monuments and portrait works.
