Veetõmmejaamad, also known as pumping stations or lift stations, are facilities designed to move water or wastewater from a lower elevation to a higher elevation or across significant distances. They are a crucial component of modern water supply and wastewater management systems. The primary function of a veetõmmejaam is to overcome gravity, enabling the continuous flow of fluids where natural topography does not permit it.

These stations typically consist of a wet well, where the incoming fluid accumulates, and a dry well or pump room housing the pumps. When the fluid level in the wet well reaches a predetermined point, float switches or other level sensors activate the pumps.
