Uses and value: Vedrester can be used as a feedstock for energy and materials. In energy applications, it supplies biomass for heat and power and can be processed into pellets or briquettes. It is also used as mulch or soil amendment, animal bedding, and a raw material for composting or fiber products. In some cases, residues are redirected to pulp and paper processes or engineered wood products.

Environmental and handling considerations: Managing vedrester as a resource reduces waste, but storage and processing require attention to moisture, temperature, and pest control. Wood residues can self-heat and pose fire and microbial risks if stored improperly. Regulatory status varies by country; some vedrester streams are treated as renewable energy feedstock, while others fall under waste management rules until valorized.
