Vedla

Vedla is a Czech word that refers to the feminine past tense form of the verb vést, meaning to lead. It denotes that a female subject performed the leading action in the past. In standard Czech, vedla contrasts with vedl (masculine singular) and vedlo (neuter singular). The form is used in narrative and descriptive prose to indicate that a woman led a person, group, project, or organization.

Morphology and usage: Vedla is formed from the stem ved- plus the feminine past-tense ending -la. When the subject is feminine, vedla agrees with that subject; it does not carry aspect by itself but is the simple past tense in the feminine.
