Vattels

Vattels is a fictional municipality in the Northhaven region of Eldoria. It lies in a gentle valley, at roughly 230 meters above sea level, with mixed forests on the surrounding hills and fertile farmlands in the valley floor. The Vatt River passes through the town, providing water for agriculture and historically powering mills.

Settlement in the area dates back to the medieval period. Vattels appears in records from the 13th century as a small agricultural community within the Duchy of Northhaven. The modern municipality was established in the 19th century after administrative reforms and expanded in the early 20th century with the advent of small manufacturing and regional rail connections.

Vattels is governed by a mayor and a locally elected council. The council typically has seven seats, with elections every four years. As of 2022, the population is around 3,600, with a mix of farmers, workers in services, and families. Eldorian is the official language, with minority speakers of nearby dialects.

The economy centers on agriculture, dairy farming, and light manufacturing. In recent decades, tourism has grown due to the rural landscape, the preserved town center, and seasonal markets. The town is connected by a regional rail line and a network of local roads.
