A variation sensor is a type of sensor designed to detect and measure changes or variations in a specific physical property. These sensors are not typically designed to measure absolute values but rather the degree to which a property deviates from a baseline or expected state. This makes them particularly useful for detecting anomalies, tracking changes over time, or as components in control systems that respond to variations.

Common types of variation sensors are based on principles like resistance, capacitance, inductance, or light intensity.
