Varastovarastot
Varastovarastot are underground storage facilities for storing grain, other agricultural products and industrial goods. These Finnish vaults, built in the 1930s and 1940s, were constructed to provide secure and strategic storage for the country's food supplies during times of war or national emergency. The storage facilities, typically ranging from 3,000 to 10,000 square meters in size, feature thick walls of solid rock to create a stable and secure storage environment. Air is circulated through the empty space in the walls to maintain a consistent temperature.
Several Varastovarastot were built across Finland by the Finnish State Materials Commission, with the majority situated
