Valotiheyksiä refer to a type of double-edged dagger originating from Sweden and Finland during the 17th and 18th centuries. The name "valotiheys" comes from the Swedish phrase "tygebak som fick ni val", meaning a significant payment to the user of the dagger. The term is primarily used in historical and military contexts to describe its presence.

The Valotiheys exhibit a slender form, typically ranging from 60 to 90 centimeters in length. Its relatively short iron or steel blade features a flat, blunt base, allowing it to be used as both a thrusting and slashing instrument. Often the angle of the blade tapers down and the tip is essentially straight, forming a distinctive silhouette. Valotiheys sometimes have a molded or incised pommel to provide extra grip.
