Valgustitüübid refers to the various categories of lighting fixtures used for illumination. These can be broadly classified based on their design, function, and light source.

Common design types include pendant lights, which hang from the ceiling; chandeliers, elaborate multi-armed fixtures; floor lamps, freestanding units placed on the floor; table lamps, smaller lamps designed for surfaces like tables or desks; wall sconces, mounted on walls; and recessed lighting, installed into ceilings or walls for a flush appearance. Track lighting offers flexible, adjustable spotlights on a rail.

Functionally, lighting can be general or ambient, providing overall illumination for a space. Task lighting is focused on specific areas for activities like reading or cooking. Accent lighting is used to highlight particular objects or architectural features. Decorative lighting serves an aesthetic purpose, often contributing to the mood or style of a room.

The light source is another key differentiator. Incandescent bulbs produce light by heating a filament, though they are energy-inefficient. Halogen bulbs are a type of incandescent but more efficient and longer-lasting. Fluorescent lights, including compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), use gas and phosphors to generate light and are more energy-efficient than incandescents. LED (Light Emitting Diode) technology is currently the most energy-efficient and durable option, offering a wide range of colors and brightness levels. Smart lighting systems, often incorporating LED technology, allow for remote control and customization of light intensity and color through apps or voice commands.
