Védjegyekkel

Védjegyekkel refers to trademarks in Hungarian. A trademark is a sign capable of distinguishing the goods or services of one enterprise from those of other enterprises. This sign can be, for example, words (including personal names), letters, numerals, figures, shapes, or combinations of colors, or any of these elements combined. The purpose of a trademark is to protect the brand owner's investment in their brand and to prevent consumer confusion.

In Hungary, trademarks are protected by law, primarily the Act on Trademarks and Geographical Indications. The registration of a trademark provides exclusive rights to its owner to use the mark in relation to the goods or services for which it is registered. This protection can prevent competitors from using identical or similar marks for identical or similar goods or services, thus avoiding a likelihood of confusion among consumers.

The process of obtaining trademark protection generally involves filing an application with the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office (Szellemi Tulajdon Nemzeti Hivatala). The office then examines the application to ensure it meets the legal requirements and does not infringe on existing rights. Once registered, a trademark typically has a protection period, which can be renewed indefinitely as long as the required renewal fees are paid. This system ensures that businesses can build and protect their brand identity, fostering fair competition and consumer trust.
