Värähtelyanalyysi, known in English as vibration analysis, is a method used to detect and diagnose problems in rotating machinery by analyzing the vibrations it produces. This technique relies on the principle that malfunctioning components within a machine will generate specific vibration patterns. By measuring and interpreting these vibrations, technicians can identify issues such as imbalance, misalignment, bearing defects, looseness, and gear problems without necessarily stopping the equipment.

The process typically involves using sensors, most commonly accelerometers, to capture vibration data. These sensors are attached to the machine at various points, often on bearing housings, to detect the subtle movements caused by internal issues. The raw data collected by the sensors is then processed and analyzed using specialized software. This analysis often involves techniques like Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) to break down the complex vibration signals into their constituent frequencies, allowing for the identification of characteristic frequencies associated with different types of faults.
