Undone

Undone is the past participle of the verb undo and, as an adjective, describes something that has not been completed, finished, or remains reversed from its prior state. It can indicate that a task remains unfinished, or that something has been unfastened, untied, or unknotted.

The form is built from the prefix un- attached to do; the sense of reversing an action is attested in Middle English. As a participial adjective, undone can describe results that follow from a reversal, disruption, or neglect.

In usage, undone can describe states caused by incomplete work, or conditions reversed by another action. It can modify nouns or be used predicatively: “the plan is undone,” “the knot is undone.” In clothing, undone refers to fasteners that are not tied or buttoned, or garments left unfastened.

In popular culture, Undone is the title of a rotoscope-animated television series on Amazon Prime Video created by Kate Purdy and Raphael Bob-Waksberg, which explores memory, time, and trauma. The word is also used as a title by various songs and works, often signaling reversal, exposure, or incompletion.
