Umwälzsysteme, also known as circulation systems or recirculating systems, are a fundamental concept in various technical and biological contexts. In engineering, these systems are designed to continuously move a fluid or gas through a closed or partially closed loop. This is often done to maintain a desired temperature, pressure, or chemical composition. Examples include heating and cooling systems in buildings, where water or a coolant is pumped through radiators or coils. In industrial processes, umwälzsysteme are used for material transport, reaction control, and waste heat recovery. The most well-known example is the cardiovascular system in vertebrates, which uses the heart to pump blood through a network of arteries, veins, and capillaries.
