Ultrahemisäteily

Ultrahemisäteily, often shortened to UH, refers to extremely high-frequency radio waves. These frequencies fall within the millimeter wave portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, typically ranging from 30 gigahertz (GHz) to 300 GHz. This band is characterized by very short wavelengths, measured in millimeters or even sub-millimeters. Due to their short wavelengths, UH waves behave similarly to visible light in many respects, including their tendency to be absorbed by atmospheric gases like water vapor and oxygen. This absorption limits their effective range in open-air terrestrial applications.

The unique properties of ultrahemisäteily make it useful for specific applications where high bandwidth and directional transmission are paramount. Examples include point-to-point communication links, where signals are transmitted over short distances between antennas. They are also employed in specialized radar systems, scientific research, and certain types of high-speed wireless data transmission. The development of compact and efficient transmitters and receivers for UH frequencies has been a key area of research and engineering. While not as widely used as lower frequency radio waves for general communication, ultrahemisäteily plays a crucial role in niche but important technological advancements.
