These might include amplifiers to boost weak signals, filters to remove unwanted noise, and microcontrollers or computers to analyze the processed data and make decisions. For imaging applications, arrays of transducers are often employed, requiring sophisticated control and data acquisition electronics.

The housing and acoustic coupling elements are also vital. The housing protects the sensitive internal components, while acoustic coupling ensures efficient transfer of ultrasonic energy between the transducer and the medium being interacted with, be it a liquid, solid, or gas. The design and material of these components significantly impact the performance and efficiency of the overall ultrasonic system.
