Uhatenas is a city-state and cultural hub in the highlands of Iskoria, part of the fictional world of Ardentia. The city lies along the bend of the river Uhata and has long served as a mercantile and administrative center for the region.

Etymology: The name Uhatenas derives from the local Uhata river; historical spellings appear in older charters as Uhatenas or Uhatana.

Geography and settlement: The city sits at the foothills of the Valtan Mountains, with a temperate climate and terraced agriculture in the surrounding valleys. The urban core is divided by the river, connected by several stone bridges.

History and government: Founded by artisan guilds in the 9th century, Uhatenas gained autonomous status under a municipal charter. Today it is governed by a City Council representing major guilds and a magistrate who chairs council sessions.

Economy and culture: The economy centers on river trade, textiles, pottery, and crafts. The annual River Market brings traders from neighboring regions. A distinctive Iskori dialect is spoken alongside standard Iskori; weaving, pottery, and metalwork are prominent crafts. The city also hosts the Temple of the River, a religious site central to local rites.
