Uchiha

The Uchiha are a fictional clan in the Naruto manga and anime series created by Masashi Kishimoto. They are one of the principal clans of Konohagakure (the Hidden Leaf Village) and are renowned for their mastery of fire-style techniques, their Sharingan ocular ability, and their historical influence within the village. The clan’s symbol is a red fan.

The Uchiha’s defining trait is the Sharingan, an ocular dojutsu that can grant heightened perception, the ability to copy many ninjutsu and genjutsu, and, with advanced stages, powerful abilities. The Mangekyō Sharingan grants unique powers and can evolve further into the Susanoo, a massive ethereal defense. Fire-release techniques are traditionally associated with the clan, though individual members study a broad range of ninjutsu and taijutsu.

Canon history portrays the Uchiha as one of the founding clans of Konoha, alongside the Senju. Tensions between the Uchiha and other village factions culminated in the Uchiha Clan Massacre, in which nearly the entire clan was killed by Itachi Uchiha under orders from Konoha leadership to prevent a coup. Sasuke Uchiha is the survivor who seeks revenge, while Itachi’s actions are later recontextualized.

Notable members include Madara Uchiha, Itachi Uchiha, Shisui Uchiha, and Sasuke Uchiha. The Uchiha’s legacy continues through these characters and through their impact on Konoha’s history, politics, and its portrayal of power and loss within the Naruto narrative.
