UVstabilizátorokkal, or UV stabilizers, are chemical additives used to protect materials, particularly polymers and plastics, from degradation caused by ultraviolet (UV) radiation. UV light, a component of sunlight, possesses enough energy to break chemical bonds within these materials, leading to undesirable changes such as discoloration, embrittlement, loss of mechanical strength, and surface cracking. UV stabilizers function by absorbing or dissipating the energy from UV radiation, thereby preventing it from damaging the material.
There are several primary mechanisms by which UV stabilizers operate. One common type is UV absorbers, which
