USAFEs

USAFEs stands for United States Air Forces in Europe. It is a major command of the United States Air Force and one of its two numbered air forces operating overseas, the other being United States Air Forces Africa. USAFE is responsible for the air and space operations of the U.S. Air Force in Europe and Africa, as well as parts of the Middle East and Southwest Asia.

The command's primary mission is to provide ready air and space power to meet U.S. European Command, U.S. Africa Command, and U.S. Central Command requirements. This includes supporting NATO operations, maintaining air sovereignty, conducting air and space operations, and providing humanitarian assistance. USAFE works closely with allied air forces to ensure interoperability and collective security.

USAFE was activated on February 5, 1951, succeeding United States Air Forces, Western Europe. Its headquarters are located at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. The command operates numerous air bases and facilities across its area of responsibility, supporting a diverse range of aircraft and personnel. USAFE plays a crucial role in projecting U.S. air power and maintaining stability in its vast and strategically important regions.
