UDPst

UDPst is a command-line utility designed for testing UDP network performance. It allows users to measure the throughput and latency of User Datagram Protocol (UDP) connections between two points. This can be useful for diagnosing network issues, benchmarking network devices, or simply understanding the capabilities of a UDP link.

The tool works by sending UDP packets from a sender to a receiver and measuring various metrics. Key parameters that can be configured include the packet size, the rate at which packets are sent, and the duration of the test. The receiver, in turn, reports on the number of packets received, any packet loss, and the time it took for packets to arrive.

UDPst is often used in scenarios where low-latency or high-throughput UDP communication is critical, such as in real-time applications like online gaming, video conferencing, or financial trading platforms. By simulating traffic, administrators can identify bottlenecks or misconfigurations in the network infrastructure that might hinder UDP performance.
