Tüdangiográfia

Tüdangiográfia, also known as pulmonary angiography, is a medical imaging technique used to visualize the blood vessels of the lungs. It involves injecting a contrast dye into the bloodstream and then taking X-ray images as the dye flows through the pulmonary arteries. This procedure allows doctors to detect abnormalities in the lung circulation.

The primary indication for tüdangiográfia is the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism, a condition where blood clots travel to the lungs and block blood flow. It can also be used to identify other vascular issues such as pulmonary arteriovenous malformations, narrowing or blockages of the pulmonary arteries, and congenital heart defects affecting lung circulation.

Before the procedure, patients are typically asked about allergies, particularly to iodine-based contrast agents, and kidney function is assessed. The procedure is usually performed by an interventional radiologist or cardiologist. A small incision is made, typically in the groin, to access a large vein. A catheter is then guided through the blood vessels to the pulmonary arteries in the lungs. Once in position, the contrast dye is injected, and a series of X-ray images are captured.

Following the procedure, patients are advised to rest and drink plenty of fluids to help flush the contrast dye from their system. Potential complications, though rare, can include bleeding at the injection site, allergic reactions to the contrast dye, or damage to blood vessels. Tüdangiográfia remains a valuable diagnostic tool for assessing a range of pulmonary vascular diseases.
