Tärkkelysjyväset

Tärkkelysjyväset, also known as starch granules, are discrete, often microscopic particles composed of starch molecules. They are found in plants, particularly in storage organs like seeds, tubers, and roots. These granules are the primary form in which plants store glucose, their main energy source.

The structure of a tärkkelysjyvänen is complex and organized. It consists of two main types of glucose polymers: amylose, which is largely linear, and amylopectin, which is highly branched. These polymers are arranged in semi-crystalline layers within the granule, giving it a distinct morphology and physical properties.
