Távollátás

Távollátás, also known as hyperopia or farsightedness, is a refractive error of the eye where distant objects are seen clearly, but near objects appear blurry. This occurs when the eye's focal length is too long, causing light rays to focus behind the retina instead of directly on it. It can also be caused by a cornea or lens that is too flat or an eyeball that is too short.

In many cases, especially in younger individuals, the eye can compensate for mild farsightedness through accommodation, a process where the eye's lens changes shape to increase its focusing power. However, as people age or if the hyperopia is more significant, this compensatory mechanism becomes insufficient, leading to blurred vision. Symptoms can include eye strain, headaches, and difficulty focusing, particularly when performing near tasks like reading or working on a computer.

Távollátás is diagnosed through a comprehensive eye examination. Treatment options typically involve corrective lenses, such as eyeglasses or contact lenses, which adjust the way light enters the eye, ensuring it focuses correctly on the retina. In some instances, refractive surgery may be considered to permanently alter the shape of the cornea and correct the condition. The severity of farsightedness varies, and its impact on vision can range from negligible to significantly disruptive to daily activities.
