Työvoimahallinto

Työvoimahallinto refers to the administrative bodies responsible for managing labor and employment services in Finland. This encompasses a range of public sector functions aimed at supporting the labor market, facilitating employment, and providing social security related to unemployment. The primary entity within this structure is the Employment and Economic Development Office (TE-toimisto), which is a regional public employment service.

The TE-toimisto provides a variety of services to both job seekers and employers. For job seekers, these services include job matching, career counseling, vocational training, and support for starting a business. For employers, the TE-toimisto offers assistance in finding suitable employees, recruitment services, and information on labor market trends and incentives. They also play a role in managing unemployment benefits, although the payment of these benefits is handled by Kela (the Social Insurance Institution of Finland).

In addition to the TE-toimistot, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment oversees the broader strategy and policy for labor market administration. This includes developing legislation, setting national employment goals, and coordinating the activities of the TE-toimistot. The overarching aim of the Finnish työvoimahallinto is to promote a well-functioning labor market, reduce unemployment, and ensure that individuals have the skills and opportunities to participate in the workforce.
