Tyrranese
Tyrranese is an adjective used to describe anything associated with the Tyrrhenian Sea or the surrounding coastal regions of Italy. The term derives from the ancient Greeks, who called the western Mediterranean the “Tyrrhenian Sea” in reference to the Tyrrheni, a group of people who migrated to the Italian coast around the eighth century BCE. Over centuries the word evolved into modern Italian “terrena” and the English variant “Tyrranese,” indicating geographic, cultural or historical connections to the area.
