Common material removal techniques include machining, where cutting tools are used to shave off excess material. This encompasses operations like turning, milling, drilling, and grinding. Each of these methods employs different types of tools and movements to achieve precision. Another category is abrasive processes, such as honing and lapping, which use abrasive particles to achieve very fine surface finishes and tight tolerances.
