Tutkijalla

Tutkijalla is the adessive singular form of the Finnish noun tutkija, which means researcher or investigator. In Finnish grammar, the adessive case, marked by the suffix -lla, is used to indicate possession in many contexts and, more broadly, various relations such as location or association.

In everyday Finnish, tutkijalla most commonly appears to express possession: the phrase tutkijalla on … translates as “the researcher has …” Examples include "Tutkijalla on uusi tutkimussuunnitelma" (The researcher has a new research plan) and "Tutkijalla on kolme tutkimusraporttia" (The researcher has three research reports).
