Tushunasiz

Tushunasiz, also known as gorollo or testicle chucking, is a traditional African initiation rite that practiced among certain ethnic communities in Eastern Africa. The custom involves the testing of a young man's courage and fertility by having him suspended upside down above a jar or a calabash while he is kicked by an older man, usually his father or a respected elder, between the legs.

The act is meant to simulate childbirth and is believed to enhance the young man's fertility and potency. The jar or calabash is held below the victim's testicles to catch the sperm and blood that are believed to be forcibly expelled during the process. The amount and color of the liquid are said to determine the young man's fertility and virility.

Tushunasiz is practiced among several ethnic groups in Eastern Africa, including the Massai, the Luo, and the Kalenjin. The custom is steeped in tradition and is seen as a necessary step in a young man's initiation into adulthood. Those who are subjected to the ordeal are considered to have undergone a rite of passage and are expected to fulfill their roles as men and husbands.

The custom of tushunasiz has been criticized by some as a form of torture and a violation of human rights. Others see it as a harmless tradition that is rooted in cultural and religious practices. The practice is now largely abated in modern times, as many societies have become more aware of its potential for causing harm and distress.
