Tumallian

Tumallian refers to the ethnolinguistic group associated with the historic Tumall region on the eastern edge of the fictional Veridian continent. The term encompasses the Tumalli people, their language, and aspects of material culture observed by neighbors and scholars. The scope includes coastal zones, river valleys, and adjacent highlands known for long-standing trade networks.

The name derives from the ancient city of Tumal, a political center in early records. The people call themselves Tumalli, and their language is named Tumallan.

Traditionally centered in the lower river valleys and adjacent coastal zones, Tumallian communities now occupy several urban and rural districts within a defined cultural region.

Tumallians emerged in the Bronze to early Iron Age, developing bronze working, river trade, and coastal exchange. They experienced periods of reform and migration that shaped regional identity.

Tumallan is an agglutinative language with vowel harmony and a modest system of noun classes. It uses a local syllabary, with some speakers adopting an adapted alphabetic script.
