Tsarevets
Tsarevets is a medieval fortress situated on a rocky hill above the city of Veliko Tarnovo in central Bulgaria. It served as the political, military, and cultural center of the Second Bulgarian Empire during its decline in the 14th century. The site is easily visible from the town and dominates the skyline with its terracotta towers, thick stone walls and a series of churches and monasteries that were built within its precinct.
