Triphosfaateiksi
Triphosfaateiksi is a term derived from Finnish and refers to compounds containing three phosphate groups. In a biological context, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is the most prominent example of a triphosfaateiksi, serving as the primary energy currency of cells. ATP is a nucleoside triphosphate composed of adenine, a ribose sugar, and three phosphate groups. The energy released from the hydrolysis of the high-energy phosphate bonds in ATP is utilized to drive various cellular processes, including muscle contraction, nerve impulse propagation, and chemical synthesis.
Beyond ATP, other triphosfaateiksi exist, such as guanosine triphosphate (GTP). GTP is structurally similar to ATP
