Tremoliteferroactinolite is a mineral series within the amphibole group, representing the solid solution between tremolite and ferroactinolite. These minerals are calcium silicates with varying magnesium to iron ratios, classified as calcic amphiboles. They typically occur in prismatic monoclinic crystals with perfect cleavage in two directions. The color ranges from white and gray to green and black depending on iron content. Tremoliteferroactinolite is commonly found in metamorphic rocks such as schists, marbles, and gneisses, as well as in some igneous rocks and hydrothermal veins. With a hardness of 5-6 on the Mohs scale, these minerals are relatively soft but durable. The fibrous variety of tremolite has been classified as asbestos, though its use has declined due to health concerns.
