TransPacifisch

TransPacifisch is a term that can refer to several different concepts, most commonly associated with the Pacific Ocean. One prominent usage is the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a proposed trade agreement between eleven Pacific Rim countries. Negotiations for this agreement began in 2010 and concluded in 2015, but the United States withdrew from the pact in 2017. A revised version, the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), entered into force in 2018 among the remaining signatories.

Another significant application of TransPacifisch relates to transportation and communication. It describes the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean and the routes that cross it, including shipping lanes and air travel corridors connecting Asia and the Americas. This includes historical journeys, such as early explorations and the establishment of trade routes, as well as modern intercontinental travel and cargo transport. The term can also be used in a more general geographical sense to denote anything situated on or relating to the region encompassing countries bordering the Pacific Ocean. In sports, it might refer to competitions or leagues that involve teams from nations across the Pacific.
